Professional Background
Mr. Marshall founded Marshall Thomas Burnett (originally known as Marshall & Thomas) in 2005 after over 15 years of litigating and trying sinkhole cases. Since 1990, Mr. Marshall has
represented thousands of homeowners and business owners with sinkhole claims. He has tried in front of a jury sinkhole cases in Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Alachua counties and had
various other jury trials over the course of his career in Hillsborough, Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Mr. Marshall has been a practicing trial lawyer for thirty years. He spent his early career litigating personal injury cases in the Miami Dade area before moving to the Tampa Bay area to open
his own practice in civil litigation. He practiced for many years in the areas of family law, personal injury and general civil law before shifting his focus solely to property insurance claims,
specifically sinkhole litigation. Mr. Marshall represented over one hundred individuals from the Dunedin Sinkhole Task Force, an organization formed by howeowners who were all
experiencing sinkhole damage, a phenomenon that was very foreign at the time.
Before founding Marshall Thomas Burnett, Mr. Marshall founded and was the managing partner of the largest plaintiffs' only sinkhole litigation firm in the state based upon the number of
clients. Mr. Marshall has continued to change and readjust his practice over the years to reflect the constantly changing landscape of sinkhole law. This committment to
excellence culminated with the founding of Marshall Thomas Burnett, where Mr. Marshall contiues his practice today.
